Martha Molinaro, Flute, Senior Recital*

Harris Theatre, Fairfax Campus

Please join Martha Molinaro in her senior recital for flute as she performs works by a small collection of composers from the eighteenth century to modern day. She will start with the virtuosic “Sonata in A Minor” for unaccompanied flute by CPE Bach, which pushes the mold of the late baroque style into early classical. The next piece transports the audience to the Paris Conservatoire, the charming “Cantabile et Presto” by Georges Enesco (George Enescu). Next, Martha will present a contemporary duet, “Maya,” by the famed British flute composer Ian Clarke. This will transition into Wissam Boustany’s “Broken Child,” a poignant reflection on modern conflicts that bridges sounds of the Arabic maqamat and nay with modern extended flute techniques. The program will conclude with the sarcastic and compelling “Sonate” for flute by the prolific German composer Paul Hindemith.

This performance is free and open to the public or join via livestream.
